About the Author

Lee Benedict was born in Newburgh, New York and raised in the Newburgh area.  He is a graduate of Cornwall Central High School.  After graduating from Mount Saint Mary College (Newburgh, NY) with a BA in Public Relations, Lee joined the US Army as a 92Y, Unit Supply Specialist, where he served in Fort Stewart, GA, Camp Red Cloud, Korea, and Fort Gordon, GA.  SGT(P) Benedict’s battalion deployed to Kuwait in February 2003 and was part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  A little over a year later, he requested a Family Hardship Separation due to the toll the separations took on his son who has disabilities.


After eight years of military service, Lee was hired by a Georgia public school system to be a teacher in the field of special education.  He has since earned a MEd in Special Education from Liberty University (Lynchburg, VA) and an EdS in Educational Psychology; Applied Cognition and Development from The University of Georgia.  Lee has sought public office in Georgia, and although he never received the most votes, the two times he challenged incumbents he received the highest percentage of votes among all challengers in all local races. 


In addition to having worked for NY State Assemblywoman Nancy Calhoun and the US Senate Republican Policy Committee, Lee has worked on numerous local, state, and federal campaigns, the most recent being the presidential campaign of Rick Santorum where he was Georgia’s 10th and 12th Congressional Districts’ Coordinator.
